Yesterday I participated in the first Locals in my area, without priority. I decided to play Dino-Rabbit, because I really want to top the next Regionals I go to, and I want to do it with deck. I did main 3 Macro Cosmos, along with a few other traps, which made my deck look more like an anti-meta deck. Anyway, this is what happened.
Round 1 vs Eatos Heroes (2-1)
1 - I don't believe I drew any Rabbits this game. I wasn't aware he played Eatos until turn 3. There were no monsters in his graveyard, due to his Macro Cosmos, so randomly dropped an Eatos. I destroyed with Warning, but he summoned another one and beat me to death with that and a Barbaros, with Skill Drain.
2 - I started and summoned Rabbit into Laggia, and set most of my hand. I had an answer for everything threatning he had, and I beat him with Laggia.
3 - He started, summoned Barbaros and special summoned Eatos, setting 2 traps. I draw and he activates Skill Drain. I activate Heavy Storm, destroying that Skill Drain and another one. I summon Rabbit and turn it into a Maestroke. I activate his effect to flip Barbaros face-down, and then I destroyed it in battle. I set most of my hand again. He drew, and immediately attacked Maestroke, but I had a Forbidden Lance, with made Eatos weaker, and then it was destroyed in battle. He summoned a Neos Alius, and I destroyed it with Warning. He used Monster Reborn on Barbaros, which let it have 3000 attack. He set a trap and ended. I draw and summon Tour Guide into another one, and made a Leviair. I then re-summoned Rabbit and banished it for 2 Sabersaurus. I flipped Barbaros face-down again with Maestroke, killed it with Maestroke, and attacked him directly with everything else. I made a Laggia and ended my turn. He drew and then scooped.
Maestroke won me that game. I am extremely happy that I put him in my extra deck.
Round 2 vs Inzektors (2-1)
1 - He goes first, used Foolish Burial to send a Hornet to the graveyard. He played a Dimensional Fissure, did some other things and ended his turn. I summoned Rabbit, which he negated. I set a bunch of traps and as soon as he drew, I flipped Macro Cosmos. He had no answers for that the entire game, so I slowly killed him.
2 - I didn't draw Macro or Rabbit, just a bunch of normal dinosaurs. He beat with some normal Inzektor plays.
3 - I controlled him with Macro again. I don't remember exactly how the game went, but I won because I played Heavy Storm and the Rabbit I eventually drew into.
So since there were only 10 people at this tournament, there were 3 undefeated players. I did end up getting paired down.
Round 3 vs Mason: Infernities (2-1)
Yay, I end up playing one of my teammates.
1 - He went first and ended up summoning an Archfiend and setting a trap. I destroyed it with MST, summoned Sabersaurus and kill it. I set a backrow and passed. He set a monster. I summoned Guaiba, used them to make a Laggia, and killed his face-down Necromancer. He set another monster and a trap. I drew an MST and activated it, and he activated Inferno, which I didn't negate with Laggia. Afterward, I summoned Kabazauls, attacked another Necromancer with Laggia, and attacked directly with Kabazauls. The game ended in my victory shortly after that.
2 - I don't remeber the exact details of this game because it went back and forth quite a bit. He did win though when I ran out of traps to use, including hand-traps.
3 - I summoned Rabbit, made Laggia, and set the rest of the hand. He just set some cards. I topdecked Tour Guide and he scooped. That was by far my sackiest game all day.
Top 4 was determined at this point. I obviously was in top 4, along with the Eatos Hero player from before, a Six Samurai player (also undefeated going into top 4) and a Dark World player.
Round 4 vs Six Samurai (2-1)
1 - He summoned Naturia Beast and Shi En first turn. I drew absolute shit and couldn't demolish his setup so I lost...
2 - I summoned Rabbit and made Laggia and set some traps. He didn't have enough cards to get through what I had so I won that one.
3 - He set 4 traps and a monster. I summoned Kabazauls and killed his face down Elder, then set some traps. He summoned Kizan and killed it. I drew Heavy Storm, with Rabbit in my hand already. I summoned another Kabazauls, and chained Torrential Tribute, which destroyed both monsters. I activated Heavy Storm and destroyed all his cards. My plan was to destroy the Kizan so Heavy Storm couldn't be negated by Musakani. He set another trap on his turn. I went and summoned Rabbit, made a Laggia, and locked him down from there.
Round 5 vs Eatos Heroes (2-0)
1 - I don't remember what happened this game at all, accept that he had 3 dead Miracle Fusions in his hand, because I had the Bottomless Trap Hole, and Macro Cosmos on the field to make them dead.
2 - He went first, played Prohibition and declared Rescue Rabbit, not like it mattered with my hand. He summoned Stratos, searched Alius, and set 1 trap. I summoned Thunder King and beat his Stratos, setting the rest of my hand, except for 1 card, and he activated Macro Cosmos. He summoned Neos Alius and attacked my Thunder King. I activated Lance during the damage step, killing Alius, and he passed. I attcked him directly with Thunder King and set another card. He summoned Crusader of Endymion, which I destroyed with Warning, so he couldn't activate a Gemini Spark. He set a card face-down and ended his turn. I drew and summoned Tour Guide into Sangan and made a Leviair. I used Leviair to summon his banished Crusader, and all my monsters attacked directly for game.
In conclusion, I went undefeated and won $20 store credit. I liked the inclusion of Macro in the deck. It hurt my Inzektor opponent, and Macro prevented a couple of Veilers from being dropped throughout the tournament. Of course, I will continue to playtest and experiment different ideas. I will get Forbidden Chalices soon, so I will enjoy using those. I wonder how many Rabbit players will top YCS Chicago and how those decks are structured.
