Tournament Report For March 17,2012

Hi boys and girls Michael here once again to provide another tournament report for you since Mario cant play cause of work..

Today I ran my Elemental HERO build again and was hoping to take my third straight top 4 finish. We had a 12 man tourney with a couple of good players one or two decent ones and some noobs.

Round 1 Vs Bushman (Flamvell) (2-0)
Game 1: I opened Stratos and set a Solemn Warning, he activated Heavy Storm but didn't summon a monster I won very shortly afterwards with Blade Armor Ninja.
Game 2: I hit him hard and fast with hero fusions he used Rekindling to get a Stardust out but it died quickly to my Nova Master. He activated Call of The Haunted to bring back Stardust but I used Super Polymerization to turn it into a Great Tornado and won a few turns later.

Round 2 Vs Sal (Tomato Control) (0-2)
Game 1: No drawing Super Polymerization or Miracle Fusion means no getting over Cyber Dragon or Chaos Sorcerer
Game 2: Read game 1

Round 3 vs Mac (???)
Game 1: This is the sad thing bout small tourneys playing bad players 3rd round cause they went 1-1 beforehand......anyway not much to say for this game i went for win fast with Blade Armor and Absolute Zero
Game 2: His only real move was synchroing for Catastor which i negated with Solemn Warning yay me. Shining for the win.

Round 4 vs Ryan Kane (Inzektor) (2-0)
Game 1: This was a long slow painful game cause neither of us were drawing anything, in order to get anything going i monster reborn his Card Trooper and milled till i finally drew a HERO (running 14 monsters this can happen alot) I was finally able to make some Miracle Fusion plays and take the win.
Game 2: He opened decent but i drew Miracle Fusion in my opening hand so we went back and forth till i was able to take the game with Great Tornado, after i had cut the attack of his Dark Armed Dragon in half.

So the top 4 was myself, Ryan, Rori (Wind-up) and Sal. After finally deciding to play for it I was paired up with Sal and Ryan got paired up with Rori.

Top 4 vs Sal (Tomato Control)
Game 1: This time my deck drew me my fusion spell cards and i was able to keep a steady pace and control for most of the duel Hero Blast came into play here as well.
Game 2: we traded back and forth for most of game 2 (probably our best game of our 4) the game ended when he had a face down Mystic Tomato and a face up Thunder King I summoned Elemental HERO Ocean attacked his face down Tomato which fetched his Summoner Monk unfortunately. I activated Super Polymerization fusing my Ocean and his Thunder King Rai-Oh to make Elemental HERO The Shining and Swung at the Summoner Monk for game. Good Games Sal!!!

On a side note I finished my game just in time to watch Ryan make a skilled Gozen Match play on Rori to win their game 3. Ryan and I decided to split for first with 17.50 each. I bought some Ra Yellow packs and pulled my final secret E-Emergency Call I need and Ryan pulled his third Hornet.

Even with the games where I drew bad hands I still feel really strongly about the Elemental HERO deck and its ability to hang with the top tier decks of this format. Super Polymerization is a broken card that really balances what your opponent can do. While I haven't tested this deck against Dino Rabbit yet I have been fairly successful against Wind-Ups and Inzektors and I feel that I should do well against Dino Rabbits as i can use Super Polymerization to counter the decks ability to summon Laggia or Dolkka.
