Tournament Report 1/18/12

Yesterday was the first Wednesday tournament at the shop, so I decided to play in it. There weren't that many players but there was still plenty of good players. I decided to play Chaos Frog Monarchs.

Round 1 vs T.G. Agents (2-1)

1 - I beat him with some usual Monarch and Tour Guide plays. Also, I drew 3 cards when he decided to complete his Venus play under Maxx "C".
2 - I ran out of plays before he did and I don't exactly remember how he won.
3 - This game didn't take too long. BLS ends games pretty quickly; it should be banned.

Round 2 vs Infernity (2-1)

1 - I beat him before he could complete his combo. I had a Veiler which stalled him out one turn, and I think I beat him the next turn. Caius is a little mean to Infernities.
2 - He got the game ending combo and I didn't have any answers to it.
3 - He got the combo off but I had the D.D. Crow to stop his Mirage play. We were top-decking for a few turns but I eventually drew Vanity's Fiend and then I won by tributing my Frog.

Round 3 vs Macro Monarchs (2-0)

1 - He set 3 traps and a monster first turn. I draw, and then I play Heavy Storm... I kinda win.
2 - I had Heavy Storm again... but I almost lost because he kept beating me down with a Fossil Dyna and I couldn't do anything to it for a few turns. I ran over it with a Genex Controller. Eventually, he drew into Macro and I didn't have any answers to it so I continued to play under Macro for the remainder of the game. Tour Guide into Leviair really helped.... twice.

Round 4 vs Gallis Agents (1-2)

1 - He went first and summoned Alchemist and banished Jupiter from the top of the deck. I summoned Tour Guide into another one, into Leviair and stole his Jupiter and beat down his monsters. On his next turn he did some Gallis exploding, but Veiler stopped it a little which helped. Next turn I won the turn after with Caius and BLS.
2 - He beat me very early on with huge Gallis plays. I had Faders to stop him for 2 turns but I had no follow-up.
3 - His Gallis explosions weren't as big this time so I had a chance to fight back. I made a Trishula and I didn't hit the Fader in his hand so I lost after he top-decked Hyperion.

I lost... it sucks. Anyway, Top 4 consisted of myself, the above Gallis Agent players, Machina Gadgets and the Infernity player I beat earlier.

Round 5 vs Machina Gadgets (2-1)

Unfortunately, I barely remember this match... but I won

Anyway, I would've played the Infernity players again but we decided to split for first and second. So technically I tied for the highest place which is good.
